Executive Board 2021-2022

Derwick Hernandez
President
I am a Senior Civil Engineering undergraduate at CCNY. I joined LAESA-SHPE in Spring 2019 and began volunteering in many events held throughout the term. After devoting more time to the club I took on roles with more responsibilities. Prior to being elected president I was office manager for 2019-2020 and Co-directed PCED 2019-2021.
I am a first generation student born in Harlem, NY. My goals are to continue to increase STEM awareness and lead as an example for individuals seeking to build a better future for their family and themselves. Some of my hobbies and interest include playing basketball, listening to podcast, books on self-development, physical and mental fitness.
“Do not let your environment or background determine your path to success.”

Alex Guerrero
Internal Vice President
Hello Familia, My name is Alex Guerrero! I am LAESA-SHPE’s Internal-Vice President for the academic year 2021-2022. This will be my second year in this role, and I couldn’t be more excited to continue to help improve the club alongside all our members. I am very grateful for the opportunity to give back and help out the chapter once again. It is more than a club, it’s being part of an organization whose purpose is to make sure everyone succeeds in their goals.
Over the years, LAESA-SHPE has helped me become a well-organized student, detailed-oriented professional, and a leader among my fellow peers. I will continue to give it my all and help the club’s goals. This year is going to be an exciting one! I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

Rosa Herrera
External Vice President
My name is Rosa Herrera. I am currently a Senior in Computer Engineering. I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. I volunteered for PCED 2018-2019 in my first year at City College of New York. I saw the enthusiasm in LAESA members with the high school students, and I joined LAESA-SHPE. As a result, I became PCED 2020-2021 Director. My main goals for this school year are to bring financial awareness to our members and increase networking between our alumni and members.

Jensy Maldonado
Secretary
Hola Familia, my name is Jensy Maldonado. I am a Computer Engineering student. I am really excited not only to be part of the Familia, but to be able to be a part of the E-Board. LAESA-SHPE has given me a sense of community even when we were forced to be away from each other. It has also helped me get connected with individuals with great drive to uplift our community and one another. I am looking forward to this new chapter as secretary, and hope to keep growing professionally and academically through all the opportunities this community has to offer.

Kyle Persaud
Treasurer
Hello everyone! My name is Kyle Persaud and I am currently a third-year mechanical engineering undergraduate student at the CCNY. I am on this year’s Executive Board as the Treasurer and I’m ready to work! I am enthusiastic to be able to give back to the community and chapter that has brought many great people into my life. All the people that I have interacted with during my time with LAESA-SHPE, have shown me the ways of the engineer and to prosper as one in our environment. Some of my favorite things to do are blasting music, going on long drives, making clips on Destiny, and posting them 🙂
The last year was tough, but now that we are accustomed to the circumstances, we are going to show out better than ever!
